Our SPIRITUAL LEADERS
vicar’s message
Dearly Beloved in Christ,
Harvest time is a season of joy and gratitude, a moment to celebrate God’s abundant blessings. Across the world, communities mark this season with festivals of thanksgiving, rejoicing over the fruits of hard work and God’s provision. In our own tradition, we observe ആദ്യ ഫല പെരുന്നാള്, where families bring the first fruits of their harvest to the church as an offering to the Lord.
This celebration is more than just a cultural event; it is a spiritual act of worship and gratitude. As St. Paul reminds us in Philippians 4:4, “Rejoice in the Lord always.” Whether in times of plenty or in times of trial, we are called to rejoice, trusting in our God who is our provider and comforter.
From a Christian perspective, the harvest reminds us to give thanks for the countless blessings God has entrusted to us. It is a time to reflect on His goodness and to offer back to Him from what we have received. This is why Scripture encourages us to give our tithes and offerings, as Jacob did in Genesis 28:20-22, acknowledging God’s sovereign right over all that we have.
When we give, it is not a waste or a loss. Rather, it is a beautiful act of thanksgiving and faith, a way of returning gratitude to God for His love and care.
May this harvest season fill our hearts with joy, our homes with peace, and our lives with a renewed spirit of thanksgiving. Let us come together as one family in Christ to celebrate and honour the Lord for His marvellous works.
With love and blessings,
Fr. Saju Philip
